  6. =====Program Descriptions in Text Files
  7.  
  8. If you prefer to view descriptions of all the programs of one type
  9. in a scrollable file rather than viewing one program description
  10. at a time as this program does, you can do so by using the FILES.BBS
  11. file which appears in each directory.
  12.  
  13. The file DIRECTRY.TXT in the root directory of the CD gives
  14. descriptions of all the directories on the CD. Change into a
  15. directory (example: CD \DOS\GRAPHICS) and type \VIEW FILES.BBS
  16. to read about all the files in that directory, using the cursor
  17. keys to scroll through the file.

  19. You can easily manually install a file to your hard disk by
  20. typing "\PKUNZIP <filename> <destination>. For example, to unzip
  21. SOMEFILE.ZIP to a directory on your hard disk, first create
  22. a directory for it (example: MD C:\SOME-DIR) then unzip the
  23. file to that directory:  \PKUNZIP SOMEFILE C:\SOME-DIR

  26. =====Using the PsL CD
  27.  
  28. If this is your first time to use a PsL Monthly CD-ROM, after
  29. reading the information in this window (use the scroll bars),
  30. follow the instructions above to get to the main program screen,
  31. then click on "Tutor" on the menu bar and also read the "Help"
  32. files. You are also welcome to call PsL at 713-524-6394 during
  33. our office hours for any assistance you might need.

  36. =====New Features in Windows CD-ROM Access Program
  37.  
  38. Print Author Labels:
  39. -------------------
  40. A new feature in the CD-ROM Access Program for Windows
  41. is the ability to copy an author's name and address to the Windows
  42. Clipboard. From there, you can paste it into Notepad, Write, etc.,
  43. to print a mailing label, write a letter, or whatever.

  45. To do this, you first must turn on the author display by clicking
  46. on "Author" on the menu bar, then click on "Show Author". Then
  47. either search for the author by name or bring up the author's
  48. program, which will cause his name and address to be displayed.

  50. Then click on the "File" menu and "Author Address to Clipboard".

  52. To paste the address into most Windows apps, you run the app, click
  53. its "Edit" menu, click the cursor where you want the address inserted,
  54. then click on "Paste" or press Ctrl-V.

  56. Search Descriptions:

  58. In May, we added the ability to search program write-ups for specified
  59. text. This is a slow search technique, but is the most thorough way
  60. to search for text. For details, search the Help file.

  62. Help File Improved:
  63. ------------------
  64. We have cleaned up and expanded the Help file and at the same time,
  65. added some features such as scroll buttons in the Help file and
  66. context-sensitive help.

  68. To use the context-sensitive help for a menu item, click on the menu
  69. bar and use the cursor keys to move down to the desired option, then
  70. press the F1 key.
